Stichtite-Serpentine from Barberton, Mpumalanga, South Africa — cut and polished in-house. Stichtite is a rare hydrated chromium magnesium carbonate mineral formed as an alteration product of chromite within serpentine deposits. Ranging from soft pinks and lilacs to deep purple, the bright Stichtite grows with Serpentine in a characteristic intergrowth. This material is sourced directly from small deposits in the Barberton greenstone belt, one of the oldest geological formations on Earth. Mixed lot with variation in Stichtite-to-Serpentine ratio, colour saturation, and silica veining across the 10 pieces.
