A high-grade Stichtite and Serpentine sphere from Mpumalanga, South Africa — one of the few localities globally producing Stichtite of this colour saturation and matrix quality. The dominant ground is a rich violet-purple Stichtite with a fine-grained, subtly lustrous surface texture; the contrasting Serpentine matrix presents as warm olive-khaki patches distributed naturally across the sphere, a characteristic feature of this material combination.

Stichtite is a hydrated magnesium chromium carbonate mineral, relatively rare in collector-grade form, and is typically found in association with Serpentine host rock. This combination — known in the trade as Atlantisite — is prized for the colour contrast between the two minerals. Stichtite occurs in only two known localities worldwide: Tasmania, Australia and Mpumalanga, South Africa. This material is sourced directly from Mpumalanga and hand-polished by us to a high, even finish. A-grade material.
